Daytime Stands Up
On May 16th, Michael Fairman and I will come together to host Daytime Stands Up: Benefiting Stand Up To Cancer. We All Have A Story! Tune-in live on Thursday, May 16th from 8 p.m-11 p.m ET as fan favorites from As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Guiding Light, One Life to Live, The Young and the Restless and more, come together for this worthy cause. The show will stream simultaneously across Alan and Michael’s YouTube channels, as well as the Stand Up To Cancer website.
I lost my mother to Lung Cancer on May 16, 2007 and lost my first cousin Marsha to Pancreatic Cancer in January of 2023. Cancer took both of these beautiful women within a year of their diagnosis. On top of my own family's loss, our beautiful daytime community has been hit hard by this dreadful disease in the last three years. Beginning with Lisa Brown in November of 2021, we have lost nine actors to cancer. As I continued to get the news about each one, I thought it was time for us to take a stand, to gather our amazing community and do something about it. I approached Michael Fairman and Stand Up To Cancer and this night was born.
We all have a story to tell! Remember that on top of those we lost, many in the daytime community have been or are fighting their own cancer battles right this second. Most of you have been touched by cancer or know someone personally who has. Over the years, we have watched our beloved daytime characters tackle cancer storylines dating as far back as Bert Bauer’s pap smear test in 1962. Daytime has been telling cancer stories for over six decades through characters such as Lillian Raines, Ashley Abbott, Sharon Newman, Reva Shayne and Barbara Ryan to name a small few. These stories have taught viewers that prevention is the key to saving countless lives.
I hope you will join us for an unforgettable night to hear inspiring stories of courage, resilience, and hope as guests share their personal connections to cancer, or the impact they have made portraying characters battling the disease. In addition, look for special musical performances and segments during this one-night only virtual event. The show will stream in The Locher Room and on the Michael Fairman Channel.
